Letter To Members - February 20, 2009 Regarding Bill HB 2602

To All VAFP Members:

We have been working quietly during this Assembly session to gather support for HB 2602.

This bill grants the Department of Conservation and Recreation power to establish non-competitively procured contracts with non-profit organizations that wish to conduct revenue producing activities on Department lands for the benefit of Virginia State Parks or the Natural Area Preserve System.

I am pleased to tell you that both the House and the Senate have now unanimously approved the bill. All that remains to be done before the bill becomes law is the Governor's signature.

We want to gratefully acknowledge the superb work done by Delegate Terry Kilgore and Delegate Matt Lohr in shepherding the bill through the legislative process.

Johnny
