You can earn benefits for your volunteer work. For example, you can earn free passes, free camping, and free cabin use at all Virginia State Parks. The ultimate benefit you can earn is a lifetime entrance pass to all Virginia State Parks along with the satisfaction of contributing to a great local resource.

Known for its miles of trails, Sky Meadows State Park is one of the most unique of Virginia State Parks. This working farm was donated to the state by Paul Mellon of Upperville, VA. Sky Meadows has over 1,800 acres with beautiful vistas and historical buildings. The park offers, group campgrounds, primitive hike-in campsites, over 14 miles of hiking trails and over 6 miles of bridle trails for equestrians, environmental education programs, various picnicking locations, picnic shelter, freshwater fishing, and close proximity to Shenandoah National Park, Skyline Drive and Luray Caverns. Sky Meadows also boarders the Appalachian Trail and is a wonderful respite for many thru hikers.

Opportunities will continue to arise to support the park in a variety of ways. One of those ways is through the Friends group. Friends groups are non-profit organizations that are formed to support a local park through volunteerism, advocacy and fundraising efforts. Anyone interested in becoming involved with Friends of Sky Meadows State Park, please call or e-mail and ask for information on joining and annual membership dues/donations. Dues and Donations are Tax Deductible.
