National Gold Medal Award

The Executive Committee of the VAFP congratulates Joe Elton and all Virginia State Park employees for winning the 2001 Gold Medal Award for Excellence in the Field of Park Management and Recreation.  We applaud your commitment and the many personal sacrifices to ensure that our state parks are the “Best in the Nation” !!!

The Governor's Capital Implementation Plan

the Governor’s capital execution plan  During the 2002 session, the General Assembly authorized the issuance of nearly $1.7 billion in tax-supported bonds to support the construction of more than 300 capital projects across the Commonwealth.
 
Chapters 854 and 884, also known as "The Commonwealth of Virginia Park and Natural Areas Bond Act of 2002," authorized the issuance of $119.0 million in general obligation bonds for 72 capital projects, including the acquisition of open space and the construction or renovation of existing parks and recreational areas.
