To All VAFP Members:

Hi to all,

Attached for your information and follow-up action are three letters relating to the need to adequately fund the State Park System in the upcoming 2006 Governor's outgoing budget and the General Assembly Session:

  1. a November 15, 2005 letter to Governor Warner from Delegates Abbitt, Cox, Landes, and Morgan;
  2. a December 2, 2005 VAFP letter thanking the four Delegates; and
  3. an October 11, 2005 VAFP letter to the Governor addressing the funding issue.

Please take a couple of minutes to send an individual and, if appropriate, "Friends of...." email to the Delegates thanking them for their public recognition of the need to adequately fund the State Park System. The message can be that brief. What's important is for them to recognize that they have public support behind their effort.

It would also be good if Senator Chichester (Chair - Senate Finance Committee), Speaker Howell, and Delegate Callahan (Chair - House Appropriation Committee) were similarly aware of that public support. This can be easily done by including them as cc's on your email to the four Delegates

The pertinent email addresses are as follows:

Delegate Abbitt                     connerins7@aol.com

Delegate Cox                        del_cox@house.state.va.us

Delegate Landes                   steve@stevelandes.com

Delegate Morgan                   del_morgan@house.state.va.us

Senator  Chichester               vasenate28@aol.com

Speaker Howell                     delhowell@aol.com

Delegate Callahan                 dcalla5474@aol.com

It's also very important that the Governor hear from you. The only way that I'm aware of to electronically communicate with the Governor is to go to www.governor.virginia.gov/ then click on the electronic communication option and type your message in the format that will be provided.

Please do this and ask the Governor to include in his outgoing budget adequate funding for the State Park System.

Thanks for your help and Happy Holidays to each of you and your families......Johnny
