FALL CONFERENCE!
VAFP's 2008 Fall Conference will be held September
18-20 at Bear Creek Lake State Park. As usual, we'll plan for
Thursday arrival, Friday activities including tours and dinner, and a
Saturday morning business meeting. Senator Emmett Hanger will be our dinner
guest and speaker.

National Association of State Park Director's 2007 Annual Conference held
in Williamsburg, VA
on September 4 - 7, 2007
The National Association of State Park Directors is exactly that---all 50
states belong. A conference is held each year with the host responsibility
rotating among the 50 states. Last year, the conference was hosted by Kansas; this year, Virginia
was the host; Idaho
will be the host for 2008.

Deeds has received the Virginia Association for Parks Legislator of the Year
for 2007 for his outstanding support of the Virginia State Park
system.

I'm pleased to announce that Dominion has responded
favorably to VAFP's application for a
grant to assist in implementing the information kiosk project
across Virginia's
State Park System. Dominion has awarded VAFP a grant of $300,000, payable
in two installments of $150,000 each.
The information kiosk project will be implemented
initially during April and May. Kiosks will be available to
park visitors by the beginning of the 2007 Park Season.
